Cybersecurity education, for every student.

CyberAcad started with a simple observation: cybersecurity isn't taught in most schools. We're building free, browser-based training so that a laptop and curiosity are all it takes to get in — no expensive hardware, no gatekeeping.

From an idea to infrastructure

  1. THE PROBLEM

    A gap nobody was closing

    Cybersecurity isn't taught in most schools. The students who get into it usually do so by accident — a curious parent, a lucky elective, a 2am YouTube rabbit hole. Everyone else gets left out of one of the fastest-growing, highest-impact fields in tech.

  2. THE SPARK

    A joke in Spanish class

    The whole thing started somewhere you'd least expect — a joke in our Spanish class that turned into a serious plan between two students. We decided the gap couldn't wait: free, browser-based cybersecurity education for middle and high schoolers — no expensive hardware, no gatekeeping, just a laptop and curiosity.

  3. BUILT FROM SCRATCH

    A curriculum and a platform

    What started as an idea between two students became a full interactive curriculum and a hands-on training platform we engineered ourselves — then a registered nonprofit.

  4. JUNE 2026

    boroCTF — proof at scale

    We built and operated boroCTF, an international cybersecurity competition, entirely ourselves. It wasn't a classroom exercise — it was real infrastructure, running live, under real pressure, reaching students on nearly every continent.

  5. TODAY

    A recognized 501(c)(3)

    CyberAcad is a recognized 501(c)(3) public charity with a growing curriculum, a working platform, and a mission that hasn't changed since day one: give every student, regardless of background or resources, a real shot at learning cybersecurity. We're just getting started.

In June 2026 we built and operated boroCTF ourselves: an international competition spanning every major discipline in the field. Not a classroom exercise — real infrastructure, running live, under real pressure.

    Karl has been passionate about cybersecurity since middle school. He leads the technical curriculum for CyberAcad, developing hands-on challenges to educate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. When he's not competing, he's playing the guitar, drums, or leading his school's TSA chapter.

    Low-Level Security Researcher

    Alex specializes in low-level security research — deconstructing compiled binaries to identify memory corruption vulnerabilities and developing custom exploits. At CyberAcad, he teaches students to think like an attacker by understanding the fundamental mechanics of a CPU.

    Zain ElBanna

    Networking Specialist

    Zain specializes in the networking side of security — packet analysis, protocol internals, and the infrastructure that keeps CyberAcad’s platform and competitions running. He builds the hands-on networking challenges that teach students how data actually moves across a network, and how that movement can be attacked and defended.
